MEETINGS
The Serra Club for Vocations, Northern Kentucky, holds
two meetings per month. On the first Tuesday of the
month, the club meets at The Colonial Cottage on Dixie
Highway for a business meeting. This meeting begins
with breakfast at 7:30 A.M. and the business meeting runs
from 8:00 - 9:00 A.M. On the third Tuesday of the
month, the club meets at Thomas More College at Noon
(assembly begins at 11:45). Lunch is served and the
club hears from a speaker at these meetings, which promptly
adjourn at 1:00 P.M.
ACTIVITIES
Servers’ Awards - Each Spring the Serra Club invites all
dedicated 7th grade altar servers to a special recognition ceremony where
they are recognized for their service, and each server is awarded a crucifix
to be worn at the altar while serving.
College Connection Program – Serra Club members work to
gather information on high school seniors to put seniors in touch with
college campus ministers at the college attended by individual seniors upon
their graduation.
Golf Outing – An annual golf outing raises money for
support of other activities throughout the year.
Religious Orders Feast Day Celebration – Serra Club
provides a special recognition for each of the major orders for their Feast
Day Celebrations.
Seminarian Support – Each summer Club members host a
cookout for seminarians. Annually, each of our diocesan seminarians receives
a financial gift from the Serra Club, and Serra members correspond with
Seminarians in a one-on-one program.
Priest Appreciation Dinner - Serra Club
for Vocations, Northern Kentucky, hosts a dinner party with door prizes for
all the active and retired priests in the Covington Diocese.
Birthday/Anniversary Cards - Birthday & Jubilee cards are
sent to all priests, brothers and deacons in the Covington Diocese.
Anniversary cards are also sent to the sisters of our Diocese on major
anniversaries of their final vows.
COMMITTEES
Communications - To encourage and develop active, involved,
open and effective communications with fellow members, priests and
religious. To promote club activities within the local community through
press releases and other media.
Membership - To actively strengthen the club with new,
enthusiastic members, and retain current members by establishing a
comprehensive membership program. Other duties include encouraging
attendance and maintaining the club roster.
Programs - To develop and encourage study and discussion on
the apostolate of the laity, programs for reaching younger lay Catholics,
and by providing a resource for program materials. Guest speakers address
the Club at the second meeting (lunch) of the month.
Vocations – To establish a comprehensive vocation program
through joint efforts of the Bishop, Vocation Directors, and Priests,
Religious, Serrans, and other lay persons.
