Recent Events

On December 11, 2012, The Club assembled for its annual Advent Service.  Deacon Steve Durkee led us in Evening Prayer and a few carols were sung.  A great way to prepare for Christmas.

The Annual Priest Appreciation Dinner was held at St. Agnes Parish Hall on December 5, 2012.  Bishop Foys and Bishop Hughes attended the event along with a substantial contingent of our Diocesan priests.  The Club presented Father Keene and Father Kroger with a check for $1500 for the Priest Retirement Fund.  Guy Linnemann  (and his wife Marsha) did a great job spearheading the event.   A great time was had by all!

On September 27, 2012, The Club held it's annual golf outing at Twin Oaks.  This is our main fundraiser -  a great success!

On July 11, 2012, the Serra Club for Vocations, Northern Kentucky, hosted a cookout for seminarians at the Noll Shelter in Edgewood.  Bishop Foys and several seminarians joined with a good contingent of Serrans for a great event.  Our Diocese will have 26 seminarians this year!

On May 1, 2012, the Serra Club installed officers for the coming year.  The following individuals were formally installed:  Steve Brunson, President; Mike Murray, President-Elect; Mark Guilfoyle, Secretary; Tom Noll, Treasurer; Jim Suetholz as Trustee (3 years); Mark Guilfoyle as Trustee (2 years); and Bob Parsons as Trustee (2 years.)  Sr. Cathy Bauer, O.S.B., will serve as Chairperson of Vocations Committee and Guy Linnemann will serve as Chairperson of the Programs Committee. Mark Guilfoyle will oversee communications and membership.

On June 6, 2012, the Serra Club enjoyed an outing at the Florence Freedom baseball game.  Sister Cathy Bauer, OSB, threw out the first pitch -- and the Club made some money on the event.

The Annual Servers Awards Ceremony was held at the Cathedral on Sunday, March 4, 2012.  Over 200 servers were given their cross by Bishop Foys and Serra Chaplain, Father Gregory Bach.  As always, the Manning family did a great job organizing the event, with several Serrans pitching in to help with the Cathedral ceremony and the reception at Covington Latin School.
